Six degrees of misfortune. Each pinned by hand.
Each sealed in the doll's own time.
Name your target. Then choose.
Found in the shed.
Shouldn't have been touched.
Too late now.
Three steps. Do them in order. Do not improvise.
"By thread and pin and name thrice-spoken — what was whole, let it come open. What they took, let them lose twofold. What they did, the doll is told."
They will not remember your name. Then their phone number. Then their mother's face. It starts small. It does not stay small.
Minor misfortune. A swollen lip. Lost keys. A stair that wasn't there. Nothing they could prove.
They will not stop thinking about you. Phone calls. Letters. A shape outside the window at 3am. Yours, entirely.
Things spiral. The job. The marriage. The house. One thread, pulled slowly, until there is nothing left to pull.
Things fall. The job. The savings. The thing they were most proud of, first. We find the load-bearing wall. We remove it.
We do not describe what this does. You do not ask. The doll already knows. Thirteen pins. No reversals. No receipt. No record.

I only wanted him to stub his toe. Three weeks later he sold the car, moved into a barn, & posts me letters in a language I don't recognise. Five stars.
Lost keys? He lost the whole house. The dog won't go in the garden anymore. I did not order this much. I am not complaining.
It works. That's the problem. It WORKS. Please take it back. Please. I can hear it in the shed. Hello? Is anyone—
